Normal Service will now be resumed

Spurred by a recent conversation and blog post by Renee, I've decided to set myself the challenge of one post per day, each one retelling a story from my childhood (as these seem to fascinate people, for some reason). I don't know how long I'll keep it up - my childhood was filled with quirky little escapades - but stayed tuned for the first installment, coming up later today.
